It's hard to think that exactly 1 year ago today I was 40 pounds heavier, working from home, 2 days before my due date and had no
friggin' clue what was about to happen to me later that day. Around 5:00pm, I started having weird cramps and chalked it up to some food I ate earlier that day. As the cramps started to become more frequent, I just kept thinking to myself, this can't be it. As the sun started to go down, my AR self thought they were fake contractions because they weren't exactly and evenly spaced apart (I thought they would be EXACTLY 5 minutes apart; not 4:40 then 5:15). Around 11:00pm I hopped in the shower and by the time I got out they were about 3 minutes apart and
Deo was like, "I'm thinking we need to get to the hospital NOW."
Tomorrow at 1:46pm my baby will be 1 year old! It's crazy to think that in only 1 short year, he has already become one amazing little boy. The things he can do and now understand (e.g. he lays down on his changing pad when his diaper is dirty, and tries to pull his shirt off when I ask him if he is ready for a bath). Before having a child, I never really knew how quickly they developed. I always pictured a 1 year old as still a little baby, but now I realize that I have an actual little person by one.
We're keeping Trey home tomorrow from the sitter's to celebrate his birthday with just Deo and I. So today I brought some cupcakes and balloons to the sitter so he can celebrate with his friends. Of course he has no clue of what is going on, but its fun to see him get excited over the bright colors and energy that is all around him.
Me on this date last year...good grief!
