So we've had a hectic past few days in the Diaz household. Deo's Uncle David passed away on Tuesday night from kidney failure. His uncle had been battling liver cancer and liver disease for some time now. Deo was in Colorado when it happened but was able to fly home early to be with his family. Right now we are heading down to Bowie, AZ to see his Nana and some more family. Although it is hard for Deo and his family, we know that he is in a better place now but we will all miss him terribly!
On a side note; I brought my computer with me down to Bowie as it's pretty busy at work right now and I need to get stuff done. Although it's only about an hour drive from Tucson, Deo let me use his wireless card so I can access the internet and work while on the road. As we're driving through the barren landscape, it's hard to imagine how crazy technology has come that I actually blog while weaving through the desert.

Sitter and Single-Mom
This was a big week for the Diaz household. It was Trey's first week being at the sitter's and it was also Deo's first week of his heavy travel season for work. Deo left last Sunday for Chicago and didn't come home until Friday night. That meant it was time for Trey to go Miss Kelley's house during the day while I was at work. I'm not going to lie, Monday was probably the hardest day for me since Trey has been born. I didn't cry when I returned to work, but I did cry when I left him at Kelley's for the first time. It was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I only called one time on Monday to check-in on him and everything was going fine. He was a little fussy but she said he loved playing with the other kids and rolling after them. Tuesday went a lot better than Monday. When I dropped Trey off Tuesday morning, Trey was so excited to see Kelley and all the kids which made me feel better. All the little kids LOVE LOVE LOVE Trey. When we get there all the little kids run up to him and start talking to him and bringing his toys to him. There's even a little girl named Alexandria who Trey's got a little crush on, and I think she's got a little crush on him too! The second we get there, Alexandria gets Trey blanket out on the floor, pulls his basket of toys out and asks if I can put him on the floor so she can play with him.
Trey's the only infant there, which is nice and she only has 5 other children (1 of which is her own). Kelley is wonderful and I like that runs her in-home program more like a classroom. She is a certified teacher and taught Spanish prior to staying at home. So she really works with the kids on their English and Spanish language and they have set activities to do everyday which will be nice when Trey gets older. For Trey, Kelley said she does little baby work outs with him which is cute. I am so lucky to have found Kelley and can already see Trey learning so much from being around the older kids!
Deo is finally home again, so I don't have to single-mom it anymore (well, for another week). I do feel like Trey and I got into a pretty good routine, but I am sooo excited to have Deo home and spend time with my whole family again!

Last Vacation of the Summer
So I'm back to work with nothing else to look forward to until Winter Break. I guess we have Labor Day and Thanksgiving, but really no substantial time off work until xmas. Deo had to go to Boca Raton, FL for his National Sales Conference with work. His company does this at the same place every year and many employees bring families along to enjoy the weather and amenities. Trey and I decided to tag along even through I didn't really have the time off work or the money, but what the hey. It was a very different experience than I am used to for a vacation but I am so glad I went. It was finally one of those vacations where I came back and didn't feel like I needed a vacation. Hopefully Deo will continue to work for McGraw-Hill and hopefully they will continue to do the conference every summer so we can continue to tag along. I think once Trey's a little older he will have so much fun.
The conference was located at the Boca Raton Resort and Club and we stayed at the Boca Beach Club off the main hotel. The Beach Club is a little more family friendly and Deo's boss recommended staying there rather than the more uptight main hotel. First of all, I have never stayed a place like this ever. At first I felt very out of place. It's a very fancy-shmancy resort and Deo and I are not that kind of fancy-shmancy people. It was fun to pretend and rub elbows with other moms at the pool (and their nannies that most likely spoke very little English). There was lots of old, balding men with their 18 year old, exercise instructor "wives" with big, fake boobs. Oh and not to mention the cheapest thing on the menu was a $17 Burger that with all the service charges, taxes and fees came to about $33 dollars! Since Trey is still so young, we didn't do much of anything. We hung out in the room most of they day, making it to the beach or the pool for only about an hour a day. Deo had to work pretty much the entire time, but he got a few nights off where we ate at a really yummy Italian restaurant and Morimoto's (a fabulous sushi bar owned by Iron Chef Morimoto). I had had had to eat there since Deo and I love Iron Chef America and I gotta say, it was delicious sushi!
The last night, Deo's company rented out the entire pool and deck area of the club and had dinner for everyone. Families were welcome to attend so Trey and I got to meet and mingle with Deo's co-workers. Trey, of course, was the hit of the dinner and Deo's National Sales Manager even snagged him for a bit and was taking him around showing him off. She even took a picture with him with her cell phone which I thought was so funny. If Trey didn't realize he was cute before, he definitely knows it now after this trip.
Overall, I had a very relaxing time and now that I know what to expect, I think next time could be even better. As Trey gets older I think he will love playing in the pool and the beach all day so hopefully we'll get the chance to go again.

Ewww
So while I was taking one of my many stops in the airport bathrooms, I saw something so incredibly disgusting I thought I'd share it with my fellow bloggers. I know many of us have horrid bathroom stories but this takes the cake for me.
As I'm exiting the bathroom stall, I see a teenage girl standing outside a stall holding two ice cream cones. She is licking both of them as the ice cream melts down the cone. First of all...gross! Eating in a bathroom, let alone an airport bathroom, sickens me. If this isn't gross enough. Her mom comes out of the stall, the daughter hands off the two cones to her mom (without washing her hands mind you) and the daughter goes into the stall. Then the mom stands outside of the stall and begins licking the cones. EWW EWW EWW. I think I just stood there and stared for like 5 minutes in disbelief.
