So it's official...I am a Weight Watchers girl. As Trey's first birthday grew closer and closer, I had this looming dark cloud over my head I couldn't shake. My lovely "baby-fat" was now a year old which I guess doesn't qualify as baby fat anymore. This weekend I made the decision that I really needed to commit to losing this extra weight (and hopefully a little more). I haven't really been trying to lose any of the "baby weight" so I guess I did OK for not really trying. But now it comes to the part where I have to try.
For some reason, I actually had a weird psycological problem with Weight Watchers. Maybe it's because my mom was a Weight Watchers fanatic when I was growing up. She did it, lost a ton of weight, and actually did so we she became a group leader and moved fairly high up in the company. I was always really proud of her for doing this. She is a great leader and motivational inspiration and did really well. So I guess it's kind of weird that I really didn't want to have to join. I guess I felt like I was succumbing to defeat; like admitting I needed help (which apparently is very difficult for me to do). But I do need help.
I joined the online program this weekend and my first day was yesterday. It really wasn't that difficult. I think it gets more difficult to eat out, especially because I love my favorite little lunch spots that are really bad for me (Thai Red Curry...YUMMM!). So far I like the program because it helps you manage your diet, it doesn't make you stop eating certain things forever. And it teaches you balance; like the more you work out the points you get that you can use for food. Or if you really want Thai Red Curry for lunch, you have to eat lighter the rest of the week. Part of my process I realized is that I do need accountability, which is why I'm letting all my bloggers know about it. The more people I have to be accountable to, the better I will stick to the program.
I'll keep you posted. My next weigh-in is on Sunday!
